Human Resources for Employees
Kentuckiana Tire Recycling strives to provide excellent human resources to all of our staff. On this page you'll find information about our leave policy for paid time off, the payment schedule, available benefits for employees, and our employee handbook. Click the buttons below to download a PDF of the employee handbook and available insurance policies.
Paid Time Off (PTO)
Paid time off is designed to give full-time hourly employees the flexibility to use this time for vacation, personal time or sick time. Unpaid absences are not allowed if you have a paid-time off balance. PTO must be pre-approved by a supervisor, if possible. We do understand that emergencies arise.
PTO is earned based on the number of hours you are paid each pay period up to 40 hours a week. Your accrual rate is based on your years of service.
- Employees who have worked less than one year will earn .02 hours of PTO for every hour worked and can earn up to 41.6 hours per year
- Employees who have worked one to three years will earn .03 hours of PTO for every hour worked and can earn up to 62.4 hours per year
- Employees who have worked four to six years will earn .04 hours of PTO for every hour worked and can earn up to 83.2 hours per year
* Days accrued may rollover from year to year. No more than 120 hours may be accrued.
An employee may choose to “cash out” PTO hours once a year within 30 days of your service date. An employee may not “cash out” PTO if their employment is terminated for just cause.
Holiday Pay
All full-time employees who work 32 hours or more a week consistently will receive paid time off for the following holidays, providing that they occur on a regular workday (Monday through Friday): Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year’s Eve, New Year’s Day, Memorial Day, Fourth of July, and Labor Day. For example, if Christmas is on a Saturday, then that is not considered a paid holiday.
Inclement Weather Policy
In the event of severe weather, the following policies stand, but may be adjusted as needed:
- Flooding. Trucks will not be dispatched to routes in flooded areas. If a roadway is covered by water DO NOT ATTEMPT TO DRIVE THROUGH THE WATER. Turn around immediately and call the operations manager for an alternate route. For safety reasons, we need to know if your route changes.
- Snow/Ice. In the event of heavy snow accumulation and/or severe ice on roads, trucks will not be dispatched. However, employees are expected to attempt to come to the warehouse; there is always work to be done.
* Payment for days employees cannot work due to inclement weather will be determined on a per occurrence basis.
Pay Periods
All hourly employees are paid on Wednesdays every week for the previous work week. All salaried employees are paid on Wednesdays biweekly. If a payday falls on a holiday, paychecks may be given a day early or a day later. Employees have the option to receive their paychecks via direct deposit or by paper check. To receive direct deposit, complete the direct deposit form. This information will be stored for payroll purposes only and will be deleted upon termination of your employment. If you have any questions or concerns regarding your paycheck, please notify a supervisor.
Benefits
Every full-time employee is eligible to enroll in medical, dental and vision insurance on the first of the month after their first month of employment. For example, an employee who starts work on January 15 will be eligible to enroll in insurance on March 1. The health, dental and vision benefit details will be available in the HR Director’s office as well as in downloads below.
